DIY Deodorant

Updated: Apr 16, 2021

Welcome back to Way to Zero Waste, in this post we will talk about one of our handmade products: Deodorant.

Although Zero Waste movement is moving forward and new plastic free products are being introduced to the market, it’s not always easy to find them.

In Barcelona, we don’t have many Zero Waste Stores and it can be a problem if you want to join the movement and introduce yourself to this lifestyle out of plastic.

We bring you the best solution: create our own deodorant. ¡Very easy to do it, cheap and long lasting!

INGREDIENTS:

  • 4 tablespoons of cornstarch

  • 2-3 tablespoons of baking soda

  • 2-3 tablespoons of coconut oil

STEPS:

  • We add the ingredients in a bowl and mix it.

  • As soon as we have a homogeneous dough, we proceed to fill the mold.

  • Once the process is done, we let the mixture rest in the freezer for 15 minutes.

  • Unmold carfully, and you'll have a ready-to-use deodorant!

You can use any mold you have at home, we have used a mold to make muffins, as we have been able to obtain larger deodorants. If you are thinking of something smaller, we recommend using the ice buckets.

As incredible as it may sound, they don't melt! You can leave them as long as you want out of the freezer!

Thanks to coconut oil, your deodorant will have a scent.

To apply, rub the surface of the deodorant against your skin. Upon contact, the deodorant stick will release the cream needed to keep your skin odor-free and moisturized.

We want to see your results, share your experience with us on Instagram and leave us in comments how your process has been.
